Discussion Questions from this sermon:

  1. How is Jacob's blessing of Ephriam in Genesis 48 a picture of Christ's blessing upson the children in Mark 10?
  2. Jesus was indignant because the disciples were obstructing children from recieving His grace. What does this reveal about Christ's priorities and what does this reveal about the priorities of the disciples?
  3. The disciples assumed they were serving Jesus when, in fact, they were doing the opposite. How might we fall prey to the same issue? What are ways our "being disciples" might pbstruct someone from coming to Jesus?
  4. Jesus said "Let the children come to me for to such belong the Kingdom of God." In order to receive the Kingdom you must be like a little child
    1. What does this mean?
    2. How does childlike dependence reveal the nature of salvation?
  5. We don't know the identity of the "they" in this passage but they believed Jesus, and wanted their children to be blessed by Him. They acted by brining these children to Jesus and Jesus blessed them. Who was the "they" in your life? Who helped you find Jesus?
  6. By bringing the children "they" participated in the thing that Jesus loves and calls disciples to do. The pastor, in this sermon, made the connection between this and John 15 where Jesus says "I chose you so that you might go and bear fruit, go and make disciples". How do we do that?
  7. Making disciples is a team effort, where we are the sowers who preach the gospel and then wait on God who gives the growth. What is the gospel? What might we confuse it with? In other words, can we decive ourselves into thinking we are being faithful to the great commission when we are not?
  8. When is the last time you shared the gospel with someone and how did it go?
  9. How can the congregation at Faith labor together as a body to grow in fulfilling the mission of making disciples?
